Richard Alcott came to the Herald in 2012 following a dozen years of multimedia journalism in Connecticut, Vermont and northern New York. From 1990 to 2000, Alcott lived and worked in Kagoshima, Japan, where he met and married his wife, Misuzu. In Mendocino County, California, from 1978 to 1985, he was news director and producer for radio station KMFB-FM as well as founding publisher and editor of the news weekly, Pacific Currents.
