Screams and howls of laughter echoed Friday as an invite-only crowd tested the facilities of the Durango Discovery Museum during an evaluation period that will last through Feb. 19.
The group, made up mostly of students and parents from the Durango Early Learning Center, was the first official test group to see about a dozen major exhibits that are either owned or leased by the museum.
The museum staff hopes to expand that number to 30 as more exhibits can be purchased, leased or rented.
Home-schoolers will get a shot at the new facility today before a members-only trial period from Wednesday through Feb. 19.
The museum plans to open to the public with regular hours beginning Feb. 23.
