Durango Flea Market to open Sunday
The Durango Flea Market will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Sunday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The market will take place every Sunday at this time throughout the summer and fall.

Senior center offers computer workshops
Jon Cordalis will offer computer workshops at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.
Prepayment and advance registration are required. The fee for each three-hour workshop is $15. Workshops will be held from 12:45 to 3:45 p.m.
Workshops will include: “Basic Computer Literacy” on Tuesday, “Email” on Thursday , “Internet I” on May 17 and “Internet II” on May 19.

Adaptive Sports seeks volunteers
Adaptive Sports Association will run its summer program trainings at the end of May.
ASA is a nonprofit sports and recreation outfitter for people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to assist in daily programming including whitewater rafting, canoe and kayaking, cycling, camping, climbing, fishing and more.
The trainings are free and no previous experience is required. Volunteer raft training will run May 23 and June 3. Canoe and kayak training will run May 25 and June 2. Cycling training will run May 24 and June 1.

Open knit times to be held at Yarn
Durango Mad Hatters will host open knit time from 1 to 3 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of the month at Yarn Durango, 755 East Second Ave.
People interested in learning how to make hats for newborns at Mercy Regional Medical Center are invited. Free lessons and patterns will be available. Volunteer knitters of all levels are needed. Hats can be knitted or crocheted and should be about 12 inches in circumference and at least 5 inches tall. Completed hats can be dropped off at Yarn Durango and The Durango Quilt Co., 21516 U.S. Highway 160 west.

Water Conservation Board to meet
A meeting of the Colorado Water Conservation Board will be held at 10 a.m. May 17 and 8 a.m. May 18 in the Student Union Ballroom at Fort Lewis College.
Before the board meeting, a Colorado River Workshop will be held from 8 to 9:45 a.m. May 17 in the ballroom.
A tour of the Animas-La Plata Project also will be held at 1 p.m. May 16. Spaces for the tour are limited so call no later than today to participate.
