The Hermosa Off-Road Classic Mountain Bike Race is coming back July 30.
The fifth edition of the classic is sponsored again by the Fort Lewis College cycling team.
The event includes the ride on one of themost famous Durango-area mountain bike trails as well as a post-ride campout and barbecue.
Starting at the Lower Hermosa Trailhead, there is a 38-mile course for Elite Men, Elite Women and Singlespeed A.
There also is a choice of either the 38- or 20-mile courses for the Category 1 Men and Women (3-5 hours) and 20 miles for Singlespeed B, Cat 2, Cat 3 and junior racers.
Race sponsors have contributed a bevy of prizes for the winners. Cash prizes also will go to the top riders.
The event is billed as one that’s for not-all-the-time racers, the Hermosa Off-Road Classic features a festive atmosphere with many riders camping at the upper trailhead both Friday and Saturday night of the event.
The cap is the post-race barbecue hosted by the Durango Cyclery at the Upper Hermosa Trailhead.
Entry is $35.
Preregistration will be available from 5-8 p.m. on July 29 at the Upper Hermosa Trailhead.
Race-day registration will be at the Lower Hermosa parking lot from 7-8:30 a.m. on July 30.
Racing will start at 9 a.m.
Volunteers also are needed for the event.
