New game introduced at senior center
Ruthanne Anderson will teach a game of skill and strategy using tiles to duplicate a set hand from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.
The group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the senior center.

Home workshop to be held July 23
A workshop on staining concrete, resurfacing a counter top, refinishing a floor, and more will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 23 at 1323 East Second Ave.
The workshop will be offered by Ecoprocote and will be hosted by Handcrafted House. The workshop will continue with a public installation at Durango Natural Foods.

Public comments accepted about plan
The Pagosa Ranger District/Field Office is accepting public comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment for the Turkey Springs Trail Management Plan.
The area includes approximately 56,000 acres of National Forest system lands located east of Pagosa Springs from the Turkey Springs area to the Piedra River. The purpose of this project is to address recreation opportunities and existing problems relating to the network of system and non-system trails in the Turkey Springs, Middle Mountain, Horse Mountain and Devil Mountain areas. The project seeks to establish a trail system that will enhance and improve recreation opportunities.
An open house about the Turkey Springs Trail Management Plan will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 28 at the Pagosa Springs Community Center. The assessment is available at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/sanjuan/projects or upon request by calling 264-1505.

Garden club to meet Wednesday
Durango High Country Gardeners will meet for a luncheon and garden tour at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Pam McKonly.
Guests are welcome. A short meeting and a handout of “Don’t Plant A Deer Salad Bar” will take place.

Fundraiser to be held for Ignacio preschool
The San Ignacio Fiesta, hosted by the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, will begin at 10 a.m. July 30 with a parade through Ignacio.
The day will include live music, duck race, games and a chance to win a 2001 Cavco mobile home. Raffle proceeds will go to build a new preschool facility. The raffle will take place at 2 p.m. July 30 in Shoshone Park.
