Trains to be displayed

at the mall Dec. 24

The San Juan Large Scale Model Railroad Club will display G Scale model trains from Monday to Dec. 24 at the Durango Mall.

The display will be located south of Santa toward J.C. Penney. Also on display will be 1 ½ inch and O Scale model trains. Information on the Emma Sweeny, the engine on display at Santa Rita Park, Engine 315 and information on the Durango Diggers Gold Club also will be available.

Parkinson’s support group to hold party

The Parkinson’s Support Group will host a holiday party from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.

Caregivers, friends and family of people with Parkinson’s are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Prosperity class to be held in Bayfield

A “Prosperity Consciousness” class will held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Pathways Center, 40031 U.S. Highway 160 East in Bayfield.

The class will teach people by raising the conscious awareness that they can create for themselves, an environment that will support them in abundance of money, health, friends, love, relationships, self worth and more. There is a suggested donation of $20 and all proceeds will benefit Pathways Community Outreach Center.

seeking gifts for teens

The Coalition of Caring Communities sponsors a Teen Wish Tree at the entrance of the Bealls Department Store in the Durango Mall.

The coalition is an informal, collaborative group of nonprofit, government, and faith-based organizations that meets regularly to coordinate delivery of human services in La Plata County. Participants should pick an ornament off the tree at Bealls, and return the unwrapped gift with the ornament to Bealls by 5 p.m. Wednesday. Cash donations also will be accepted, and may be dropped off at the Women’s Resource Center, 679 East Second Ave., Suite 6 or at www.wrcdurango.org.

Support group to meet Tuesdays

The National Infertility Association, Resolve announces a new peer support group which will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month in conference room Suite 201 at the Bank of Colorado building, 1199 Main Ave.

The group is for people who have fertility issues and want to connect with a free, supportive and confidential group of women on a similar journey.

Postal Service meeting

to be held Monday

The U.S. Postal Service is proposing office closures and changes to service standards at the local area service and other out lying rural areas nation wide.

A meeting will be held to discuss these closures at 6 p.m. Monday at Miller Middle School, 2608 Junction St.
