“The Book of Mormon” is coming home.

Tickets for the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical will go on sale Jan. 22 for a limited showing Aug. 14 through Sept. 2 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver. Because it’s a special engagement, ticket sales will be limited to six tickets per order.

“The Book of Mormon” features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Colorado natives Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of the animated series, “South Park.” Tony Award-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy “Avenue Q.” Choreography for “Mormon” is by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” “The Drowsy Chaperone”) and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker.

Broadway’s top winner last year nabbed Tonys for Best Musical, Best Score (Parker, Lopez, Stone), Best Book (Parker, Lopez, Stone), Best Direction (Nicholaw, Parker), Best Featured Actress (Nikki M. James), Best Scenic Design (Scott Pask), Best Lighting Design (Brian MacDevitt), Best Sound Design (Brian Ronan) and Best Orchestrations (Larry Hochman, Stephen Oremus). It also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical; five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, Best Music, Best Lyrics, Best Director (and Best Orchestrations; four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Actor in a Musical (Josh Gad) and Best Director and the Drama League Award for Best Musical.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording, which was nominated in 2012 for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is available on Ghostlight Records.

“The Book of Mormon” is an added attraction on the Denver Center Attractions 2012 season schedule. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District as well as corporate sponsorship.
