Gaslight Cinema
(102 Fifth St. Next to the railroad depot, 247-8133)
War Horse.HHH½ A horse and his owner are separated during the hell of World War I, but the horse would have some stories to tell (if he were a talking horse – but it’s not that kind of movie, thankfully). Rated PG-13.
The Descendants. HHHH George Clooney stars as the heir of one of Hawaii’s oldest landed families who must decide between preservation and development. And so much more. Rated R.
Durango Stadium 9
(Next to Durango Mall, 247-9799)
Haywire.HHH MMA star Gina Carano stars as a dirty jobs-government-type who is double-crossed and has to defend herself against equally skilled foes. Rated R.

Underworld: Awakening. (In standard and digital 3-D with surcharge; no Ebert rating.) This is the third one of these, in which Kate Beckinsale is a vampire warrior battling the evil humans for the existence of her immortal race. Rated R.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.HH½ Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and young Thomas Horn star in one of the first major films to deal with the Sept. 11 attacks. Hanks died, and his son searches the city looking for the lock that fits a key left to him by his dad. Rated PG-13.
Beauty and The Beast.HHHH (In standard format and digital 3-D with surcharge) Disney’s 1991 neoclassic is probably fine without the 3-D part, but it can’t hurt ... can it? Rated G.
Contraband.HH Mark Wahlberg plays a former smuggler who’s forced back into the game after his brother gets in over his head. Rated R.
Joyful Noise.H½ Queen Latifah is an old school choir director, Dolly Parton is new school (yes, you read that right). They both think they know the best way to save their small Southern town; apparently through the use of a tired, formulaic premise. Just because “Glee” is so confoundedly popular on TV doesn’t give anyone the right to make a movie like this. Rated PG-13.
The Devil Inside. (No Ebert rating) A woman imprisoned in Italy is possessed by not one, not two, not three – but FOUR demons! That’s some serious evil. Rated R.
We Bought A Zoo.HH½ Rarely is there such truth in cinematic advertising. In this film, a family buys a zoo. Rated PG-13.
The Adventures of Tintin. HHH½ Spielberg isn’t limited by real film in telling the fantastical exploits of the globe-trotting boy. Rated PG.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.HHH½ Rooney Mara’s portrayal of Stieg Larsson’s globally infamous Lisbeth Salander is all the talk these days. Rated R.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.HHH½ The story lives up to the action in the fourth adventure for Tom Cruise’s super-spy alter ego, Ethan Hunt. Rated PG-13.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.HHH½ The story is true to the classic tales if the action-blockbuster part isn’t; Robert Downey Jr.’s Holmes matches wits with his arch nemesis Professor Moriarty. Watson helps. Rated PG-13.
