The Ignacio High School girls basketball team turned up the defense Friday night.
With their full-court pressure, the Bobcats stormed past Mancos 55-42 in a San Juan Basin League game at Mancos.
“Our defense was outstanding, and our press ... gave them trouble,” Ignacio head coach Brice Searles said.
“We denied the ball on the inbounds, and our pressure worked really well,” Searles said.
Cloe Seibel, a sophomore, returned from injury to lead the Bobcats with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Michelle Simmons added 12 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for Ignacio (5-5, 4-2 SJBL).
Val Armstrong scored 12 points with eight rebounds.
Pam Cotton added nine points and eight rebounds.
“Pam played a very good game,” Searles said.
Mariah Vigil scored six points and had six rebounds for Ignacio.
“I can’t stress enough ... our defensive performance,” Searle said.
Ignacio will face another key league opponent at 5 p.m. today at Telluride.
