And the drink of Snowdown is ...

The “Diva Cherry Box-A Taste of Seduction” is the official drink of Snowdown 2012.

The Durango Divas – Maile King, Dolores Overton and Susannah Standal – won the 34th annual Bartender’s Contest by one point.

The trio beat last year’s winner, Jana Goldstein, and won the hearts of the judges by reading them a fairy tale and playing “Bippity-Boppity-Boo” from a boom box while they poured the drink.

The judges even got to keep the flashing martini glass.

“This is how you do it,” said judge Tom Purdum.

The divas put on a good show, but so did the 11 other participants.

The crowd that packed Moe’s Lounge loved one contender who would identify herself only as Lady Gaga. She got on top of the bar and almost knocked a light from the ceiling when she hit it mixing her concoction.

The contest is the longest-running Snowdown event, said Rick Carney, owner of Moe’s.

There was plenty of booze to go around, and Purdum admitted contenders have a better chance of winning if they make their drinks last. Multiple drinks had Everclear that the bartenders set on fire before serving to the three judges.

But the divas prevailed in the end with their drink, originally made by Aaron Peterson, a bartender at Mutu’s, and named after Spicebox Whiskey.
