The Purgatory Freestyle Team hit the park and the halfpipe in Crested Butte recently for the United States of American Snowboard Association (USASA) competitions. Halfpipe and slopestyle events were staged.
Purgatory Snowboard Team riders included Antonio Peña-Riess, Boyd Matheson, Dan Lorenz and Jake Carey.
Carey (8-9 boys) won the slopestyle and finished second in halfpipe.
Lorenz (12-13 boys) placed fifth in each discipline.
Matheson (14-15 boys) was first in halfpipe and third in slopestyle.
Peña-Riess (14–15) placed fourth in slopestyle.
The freestyle skiers also competed in Crested Butte. Purgatory Freestyle Ski Team members included Jamie Wanzek, Gavin Wrublik, Chance Conaty, Nolan Stowers Grant Hoven and Parker Norvell.
Wanzek (16-18 girls) took home first-place medals in both halfpipe and slopestyle.
Stowers (13-15 boys) won the halfpipe and was seventh in slopestyle.
Conaty (13-15 boys) added a fourth in slopestyle.
Hoven (13-15 boys) placed 10th in slopestyle.
Norvell (13-15 boys) added a 14th in his division in slopestyle.
And Wrublik (10-12 boys) took home silver after finishing second in slopestyle.
