Bayfield library to show Harry Potter film
The Lavenia McCoy Public Library in Bayfield will continue its Harry Potter Series with a showing of the fifth installment in the saga, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,”at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the library meeting room, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield.
The library also will host a Harry Potter book party at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 at the library. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes. The party will feature wizard snacks, trivia and door prizes. Advance sign-up is appreciated but not required.

Archaeological society to meet Thursday
The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.
Bob Silbernagel will talk about his book Troubled Trails, which discusses the history of the Meeker Affair in Northwest Colorado and the Ute side of the story.
The public is invited.
Kiwanis club to meet Thursday
The Kiwanis Club of Durango will meet at noon Thursday at The Durango Doughworks, 2653 Main Ave.
The group will hear from Richard Ballantine, publisher of The Durango Herald. Visitors are welcome.
Women’s center to host workshop
The next empowerment workshop by the Women’s Resource Center is called “Clearing the Path to Freedom: Release What Stops You from Realizing Your Dreams,” and it will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Certified professional coach Victoria FittsMilgrim will show participants how to find the path of creative expression and how to stay connected to vision.
The cost is $10 for members and $15 for all others. Proceeds will benefit the Women’s Resource Center.

PBS documentary to be shown Feb. 11
Rocky Mountain PBS and the Discovery Museum will present a free screening of the Independent Lens film “More Than A Month” at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Boiler Room Theater of the Durango Discovery Museum, 1333 Camino del Rio.
In the film, African-American filmmaker Shukree Tilghman sets out across the country to answer the question: “Should Black History Month be ended?”
Along the way he also created a mobile app called “More Than a Mapp.” There will be a demonstration of the app.
