Animas High School announces events
Animas High School’s second annual Sports Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21 at the Boys and Girls Club.
Donations of sporting equipment are being accepted at the school during school hours.
For volunteers interested in helping, the first organizational meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Adaptive Sports Association, 125 E. 32nd St.

Enrollment for the 2012-13 school year continues at Animas High. Students and families looking to enroll at AHS should visit www.animashighschool.com and complete an online Intent to Enroll form. The school will hold an enrollment lottery March 1.
Thursday Info Night sessions will continue from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each Thursday on the school campus at 3206 N. Main Ave.
Invention Convention results announced
The following students received honorable mentions at their elementary school-level Invention Conventions:

Academic All-State honors announced
Twenty-nine winter Durango High School athletes and CHSAA-sponsored activity participants earned CHSAA Academic All-State honors. Of these 29 students, 21 earned Academic First Team honors, while eight others earned Academic Honorable Mention Recognition.
The Durango High School Girls Basketball team is a CHSAA Academic All-State Team with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.58. Varsity teams and CHSAA Activities must have a cumulative 3.50 GPA or above. Members of the team include Molly Barnes, Shanelle Bogus, Jerrica Crosby, Raquel Delgado, Emily McCue, Alyssa Montoya, Taylor Perry, Jessica Sigillito, Abby Surmeier, Jennifer Welbourn and Madeigh Winsor.
First Team honors are given to juniors and seniors with cumulative 3.60 or higher GPA and include:
Boys Basketball: Connor Dugan, Easton Garcia, Joe Keresey and Morgan Miller.
Girls Basketball: Molly Barnes, Abby Surmeier and Jerrica Crosby.
Speech & Debate: Keely Costello, Aidan Graham, Koby McInnis, Ryan Mull and Amanda Urban.
Girls Swimming: Katie Armbrecht, Hannah Chapman, Haley Cotgageorge, Danielle Erickson, Bonne Matheson, Carly Merryman, Brennan Stottlemyer, Rydell Stottlemyer and Jordan Warren.
Juniors and seniors with cumulative GPAs of 3.30 to 3.59 earned Honorable Mention recognition and include:

Jazmin Stoner named to president’s list
Jazmin Stoner of Durango was named to the fall semester president’s list at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
Stoner is a senior majoring in applied psychology, and she earned a 4.0 grade-point average.
Needham students, staff honored
Needham Elementary School students and staff worked on the International Baccalaureate Attitude of Appreciation for December and January.
Students and staff chosen to demonstrate this attitude were: Rachel Ager, Nate Pinto, Rowan Dawson, Tristin Bennett, Haleigh Kelly, Jose Morales Chacon and Mrs. Sallie Kautter.

Animas Valley Elementary School announced Huskies of the Week.
