A&E Happenings for March 13

The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College will combine a night of “alternative” ballet with a 10th anniversary party for Arts Perspective magazine Wednesday night. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, or “The Trocks,” are a troupe of highly skilled male ballet dancers who put a comic interpretative twist on classic ballets like “Swan Lake,” “The Nutcracker” and “Don Quixote.” The men play all of the roles, regardless of the author’s intended gender.Arts Perspective will kick off a mini-tour of the magazine’s cover art with a 6 p.m. pre-show display in the Concert Hall lobby. Les Ballets Trockadero, incidentally, are the featured subjects of the latest cover. Singer/songwriter Thom Chacon will play in the lobby during the cover art exhibition and many writers and artists for the magazine will be in attendance as well. It will be the first of four exhibitions for Arts Perspective: future events this year will be held at Sorrel Sky Gallery, Open Shutter and the Cortez Cultural Center.

The cover art exhibit is free; tickets for Les Ballets Trockadero are on sale now and will be available at the box office.
