Weather permitting, when Neil Berg brings his popular “100 Years of Broadway” show to town Monday night, Rachel Saul Pollack will cash in a 3-year-old rain check.

Berg’s traveling revue is like “Broadway for Dummies,” a sampler of some of the best song-and-dance routines from the most iconic shows.

At each stop, Berg gives local performers a chance to take the stage alongside the Broadway stars. And, for one lucky local, a solo during the show’s finale. In 2010, Pollack was selected for the solo, but a snowstorm interrupted her dream.

“It was canceled, and I was really looking forward to working with professionals, but they picked me again this time so I’m excited again,” Pollack said.

The Tulsa native has lived in Durango since 2010, and she is finishing her music degree at Fort Lewis College.

She recently starred in the local production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” and will likely work this summer with a local theater company, as well.

She was also the featured vocalist in the last production of the Salt Fire Circus. But Monday, she’ll sing the signature tune from “Rent,” “Seasons of Love,” with not much practice.

“I go in a few hours before the show and pound it out,” Pollack said.

“I have the sheet music, and I’ll get a little time with their vocal coaches and then just watch the show and head backstage at the finale and then just go sing.”

Other locals who will get a shot on stage with Berg’s chorus, but not solos, are Lindsay Emery, Hattie Miller, Adam Sowards, Eve Jennings, Joy Kilpatrick and Darcy DeGuise. Auditions consisted of uploaded videos onto YouTube or Facebook, and Berg’s producers selected the winners.

The shows that will be sampled in “100 Years” include “Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables,” “My Fair Lady,” “Cats,” “Chicago,” “Wicked,” “Jersey Boys” and more. Berg plays piano and acts as emcee with a live band backing Broadway stars like Ron Bohmer (“Ragtime,” “Phantom,” “The Scarlet Pimpernel”), Sandra Joseph (“Phantom”), Chuck Wagner (“Into the Woods,” “Les Miz,” “Beauty and the Beast”), Andrea Rivette (“Miss Saigon,” “Jekyll and Hyde”) and Lawrence Clayton (“Dreamgirls,” “It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues”).

The show lasts about 2½ hours with an intermission.
