Former Durango resident Eva Marie Johnson died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at her Mancos home. She was one week shy of her 96th birthday.
Mrs. Johnson was born to Charles and Eve (Stresser) Polich on Feb. 21, 1916, in Chicago.
She lived in Durango for 12 years.
“Eva enjoyed quiet time devoted to reading, sewing and taking walks,” her family said. “Traveling and seeing the world’s sights were activities Eva greatly treasured, as well. Eva dedicated much time to her garden, where she would grow beautiful flowers.”
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Irving Johnson.
She is survived by her children Lucinda Glass of Mancos, Vicki Armstrong of Buckeye, Ariz., and Charles Johnson of Portugal; sister, Connie Gutowski, of Chicago; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
