Make recycling an optional city service

Three cheers for City Councilor Paul Broderick for questioning increases for recycling services that will be more efficient yet cost the taxpayer an additional fee. The city should make recycling an elective service. I hardly use this service other than for plastics because of the drop-off ban. I choose to recycle at the various recycling locations around town. I find this to be more efficient without having debris littered about the neighborhood – a spin-off of the curbside pick up. County residents use the city’s recycling facilities for free, so why shouldn’t city residents have that same right and choice?
