Durango Arts Center offering spring classes for children, adults

Registration is open for spring classes at the Durango Arts Center. All classes are held upstairs in the education studio. Arts Center members receive a 10 percent discount for classes and workshops and no refunds can be given for missed classes.

Kids’ classes

Tween Painting for ages 9-11, taught by Meredith Rose; 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through April 24. The cost is $120, and scholarships are available from Durango Friends of the Arts.

Kitemaking for all ages (kids 8 and younger must be accompanied by a helper), taught by Paul Pennington, 10 a.m. April 28, $50.

Summer session of GOAL (Girls’ Opportunities through Arts and Leadership) for fifth- through eighth-grade girls; June 4-15. Call Sandra at 259-2606 for an application and more information.

Saturday adult workshops (ages 15 and older)

Beginning Stained Glass with Will Foster, noon March 17, $45 plus a $15 materials fee.

Beginning Basket Weaving with Karen Aldrich, 10 a.m. March 31, $50 plus a $10 materials fee.

Intermediate Stained Glass, 10 a.m. April 21-22, $120 plus a $30 materials fee.

Printmaking for adults and teens taught by Jennifer Ghormley, June 18-20.

Open Studios

Portrait group for adults and teens, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday, $10 per session for members and $20 for nonmembers; preregistration is not required.

Figure drawing for adults, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday, $10 per session for members and $15 for nonmembers; preregistration is not required.

Open Studio, 3 to 5 p.m. every Friday, free for members and students taking classes at the DAC.

Classes

Mixed-media experimental class for adults and teens taught by Joan Russell, 9 a.m.-noon Fridays through April 6. $125 includes most materials.

Instructional Figure Drawing for adults taught by Meredith Rose, 6 p.m. Thursdays through April 5, $90 plus a $30 model fee and a materials list will be mailed upon registration.

Intermediate Acrylic Painting for adults and teens, 10 a.m. Thursdays (Prerequisite: Color Theory and Beginning Drawing or a solid background in both), $120. A materials list will be mailed upon registration.

Ceramics for adults and teens, 9 a.m. Saturdays April 21-May 19, $150 plus a $50 materials fee.

Beginning Drawing for adults and teens taught by Meredith Rose, 6 p.m. Thursdays April 19-May 24, $125 includes all materials.

Drawing II for adults and teens taught by Christine Trout, 11 a.m. Mondays March 12-April 23, $100; a materials list will be mailed upon registration.

Drawing Workshop for adults and teens taught by Christine Trout, 11 a.m. Tuesdays March 13-April 24, $100 plus a $15 model fee.
