The Bayfield High School baseball team won its second consecutive game to open the season, defeating the Durango junior varsity team 9-6 on Friday in the JV division of the annual Scorpion Invitational in Farmington.
Clay Miller drove in three runs with a pair of doubles. Trey Lange drove in two runs with a pair of triples. Darren Hoselton also had two hits for the Wolverines (2-0).
Colt Walker started on the mound and picked up the win for BHS. He pitched five innings and gave up only two hits. Matt Knickerbocker pitched the sixth and seventh.
“They hit the ball, but we were playing good D,” Bayfield head coach Tom Horton said.
BHS will play for the JV division title at 4:30 p.m. today against the Rio Rancho or Piedra Vista JV.
