The League of Women Voters of La Plata County has delivered almost 1,500 copies of Electing the President, a guide outlining all one needs to know about the presidential election process, to all the high schools in La Plata County. This guide, produced by the League of Women Voters and the Newspapers in Education Institute, will be available to the senior classes, many of whom will be first-time voters in the 2012 presidential election. Extra copies of the guide are available at the Durango Public Library and The Durango Herald office or may be downloaded from the League Web site at www.lwv.org.
While all voters need to be as knowledgeable as possible about the election process, this is especially true for the 18-year-old who will be voting for the first time ever. We believe this publication will help our local high school students get their voting careers off to an educated start.
The League wishes to thank The Duango Herald and Four Corners Printing for generously printing all these guides at no cost. Their help in getting this educational resource into the hands of high school students is greatly appreciated.
