Former Durango resident Eunice M. Gensheer died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in Tuscola, Texas, where she had lived the last year and a half with her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Ruth Gensheer. She was 80.
Mrs. Gensheer was born to Gilbert and Alice Money on Dec. 24, 1931, in Racine, Wis., and grew up there.
In 1940, she and her family moved to Durango, where she later married Jack Gensheer and raised their children.
Mrs. Gensheer worked on the Denver & Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Railroad as a concessionaire. Later, she worked as a clerk at Wall Drug.
In 1977, she moved to Hanna, Wyo., and then to Douglas, Wyo., in 1990.
Mrs. Gensheer was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack Gensheer.
She is survived by her children Wendy Kennedy of Farmington, Frank Gensheer of Tuscola, Diane Parrish of Seymour, Texas, and Douglas, and Mark Gensheer of Indianapolis; sister Janet Hudson of Cortez; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Hood Mortuary, 1261 East Third Ave. A funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, also at Hood. Burial will take place afterward at Greenmount Cemetery.
