Durango resident Elizabeth R. Nobman died Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Durango. She was 98.
Mrs. Nobman was born to Frank and Sara Rider on Aug. 5, 1913, in Oyster Bay, N.Y.
She lived in Oyster Bay all her life until she and her husband moved to Durango after they retired in 1993.

After the couple married, she was mostly a homemaker, but held several part-time jobs, including being a Welcome Wagon Hostess and a saleswoman for Country Lady in Oyster Bay. Mrs. Nobman also occasionally helped out in the family business, Nobman’s Hardware, in Oyster Bay.
“Elizabeth is remembered for her voice,” her family said, “and she sang in the Christ Church Choir in Oyster Bay for more than 20 years.”
Mrs. Nobman was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Walter Nobman, in 2006.
She is survived by her son, Richard Nobman, of Durango; one grandson and one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
