Local organizations and community members have created a donation drop-off station for the seven people and two dogs who were displaced by a fire Wednesday at Vallecito Reservoir.
Three apartments were destroyed in the fire.
The residents had time to escape with their pets but were forced to leave nearly all belongings behind.
While the Red Cross, Vallecito Service League, Community Assistance, residents and local businesses already have taken steps to assist the families, additional community donations are still needed.
The drop-off station is located at the Schank House Bar & Grill, 17460 County Road 501, near the middle of Vallecito Lake. Donations may be made during business hours, which are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.
Helpful items include cash donations, clothing, food, personal-hygiene products and household items such as furniture, beds and bedding. Items for the dogs such as bedding, food, leashes and feeding bowls also would be useful.
