Arboles resident Janine Kay Masterson died Monday, April 9, 2012, at her home. She was 68.
Mrs. Masterson was born to John and Pauline Monkres on June 17, 1943, in Las Vegas. She grew up in Oklahoma City, where she graduated from Grant High School.
As a girl, she worked for a seamstress and in a dress shop, and as an adult, she was a secretary for Ferguson Oil Co.
On March 8, 1984, she married Don Masterson in Monte Vista. The couple moved to Arboles later that year. They owned and operated the Bayfield Locker Plant and Candy Store for about three years, from 1991 to 1993.
Mrs. Masterson enjoyed fishing, swimming, dancing and playing cards.
“She was a loyal companion to her husband, Don,” her family said, “and was a friend to all.”
Mrs. Masterson is survived by her husband of 28 years, Donald Masterson, of Arboles; mother, Pauline Monkres, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Connie Stobbe, of Creede; son, Kenny Walker, of Oklahoma City; and brother, Lynn Monkres, of Laurel, Md.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Sunnylane Cemetery, 3900 S.E. 29th St., in Del City, Okla.
