Darrell W. Fosberg

Former Durango resident Darrell W. Fosberg died Monday, April 16, 2012. He was 73.

Mr. Fosberg was born May 10, 1938, in Farmington to Harriet and Leonard Fosberg. He had two sisters and two brothers. Raised in Durango, Mr. Fosberg graduated from Durango High School in 1956 before attending Adams State College, where he earned a degree in business administration in 1962.

He began his career with American Oil Co. and eventually settled in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1968.

Mr. Fosberg had many diverse interests and careers over the years, including owning the Der Wienerschnitzel (now known as the Dog House); developing his own clothing store, Darrellís Menís Wear featuring Johnny Carson Suits; and working as a salesman for Babbit Ford.

He later worked in accounts payable at Northern Arizona University before becoming a real estate agent for Dallas Real Estate and then Russ Lyon Real Estate.

After retiring in 2009, he volunteered at Continental Country Club and enjoyed playing golf with his friends as often as the weather permitted. He was active in the community and in Flagstaff schools, which his daughters attended before both earning degrees from Northern Arizona University.

Mr. Fosberg spent the last 15 years of his life with his best friend and companion, Loretta Wellborn. They enjoyed their time together, taking trips and spending time with family, grandchildren and many wonderful friends and neighbors, his family said.

Mr. Fosberg is survived by his daughters Julie Paschal and Kelly Fosberg, both of Flagstaff, Ariz.; companion Loretta Wellborn of Flagstaff and her daughters, Kristina Cordes of Castle Rock and Karry Hull of Flagstaff; siblings Harriet Perry of Henderson, Nev., and Kenneth Fosberg of Idaho; and five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Cremation has occurred.

Donations may be made to Northland Hospice and The Olivia White Hospice House in Flagstaff.
