Durango doesn’t play its ‘best baseball’ against Piedra Vista

Durango High School “didn’t play our best baseball” Tuesday in Farmington.

“We just had some defensive miscues and weren’t sharp,” DHS head coach Rob Coddington said after his Demons lost 9-4 to the Piedra Vista Panthers.

Joe Keresey started and threw three scoreless, no-hit innings before the Demons gave up 7 runs in the fourth.

Keresey was 2-for-3 at the plate. Blake Dunlap had three RBIs, and Mark Kobrin had one.

Durango went up 2-0 in the third before the Panthers hit their streak in the fourth. DHS answered with two more runs in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to match Piedra Vista’s runs in the fifth and sixth.

Both teams had eight hits.

Durango (10-6, 5-2 Southwestern League) will play at Montrose at 4 p.m. Friday.
