The fabric of art

The “Textiles Today: Redefining the Medium” exhibition will open today with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center. The display includes 20 nationally renowned textile artists and was curated by Durango artist Ilze Aviks. Most of the artists are teachers and professors whom Aviks met through her own travels as a guest instructor at universities and colleges throughout the U.S. “These are artists who really make a difference in the field,” Aviks said. “Textiles Today” will remain on display in the Barbara Conrad Gallery through June 2.
