Bible study of Romans to begin May 9
Part 1 of a Kay Arthur in-and-out Bible study of Romans will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. May 9 at Liberty Bible Church, 25825 U.S. Highway 160, Unit B.
The study is open to men and women.

Sacred Heart church to hold spaghetti supper
Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s 38th annual spaghetti supper will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 254 East Fifth Ave.
The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children and free for children younger than 6. The menu will feature spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, pizzelle cookies and drinks.
Faith Community to welcome new pastor
Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Colorado Highway 172, will welcome new the Rev. Paul and Sherry Ward at 10:30 a.m. May 6.
The Colorado district superintendent will officiate at an installation service and a reception will be afterward.
National Day of Prayer to be held Thursday
The 61st annual observance of the National Day of Prayer will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the La Plata County Courthouse next to the flag pole, 1060 East Second Ave.

Congregation Har Shalom to host fundraiser Friday
A “First Friday Hollywood Havdallah Fundraiser” will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203.
The fundraiser will raise money for Doris Bergal, wife of one of the congregation’s first congregational presidents, who has been undergoing surgeries with complications.
The family is in need of financial help. Free pizza, salad and dessert will be provided. A screening of “The Infidel,” a family-friendly comedy, also will take place.
San Juan Bible camp announces events
San Juan Bible Camp, a nondenominational camp at 14260 Road 39.9 in Mancos, will host these events:
Registration day will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. today. Attendees who register before Tuesday will save $20. Licensed medical personnel will be present to give physicals, parental consent forms will be available for off-site activities, and snacks will be served.
A work day will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5. Projects will include limbing trees, chipping branches, cleaning cabins and fire mitigation. RSVP is needed because lunch will be provided.
The camp is accepting registrations for students in kindergarten to 12th grade. Scholarships are available.
Cuban missionary to speak Sunday
Willie Santiago, a Cuban missionary from Jovellanos, Cuba, in the province of Matanzas, will speak about current religious freedoms at 12:15 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 332 E. 11th Street.
Santiago has been working with various churches in the United States for several years that have sent work teams and aid through Cuba Connection Ministry. The public is welcome.
