The Center Vikings came from behind in the second half to score a tense 3-2 girls soccer victory over Ignacio on Friday afternoon.
“It was pretty disappointing. We didn’t play our game, and we got caught in their ... style,” Ignacio head coach Andrew Fenity said.
“Our girls started getting carried away with the way they played ... bunched up and kick long,” Fenity said.
Cheyenne Cook scored the first goal for Ignacio.
Jasmine Red scored the second goal on a set piece after a Center foul.
“That goal actually put us ahead 2-1. But Center tied it and scored the winning goal with 10 minutes to play,” Fenity said.
The Bobcats beat Center 4-1 earlier this season for their only victory (1-9-0).
“The spirits are a little down here,” Fenity said. “But I’m pleased with the effort. But I’m not pleased with our play.”
He said Center improved significantly since the first of the season.
“They’ve improved a bunch, give them credit,” Fenity said.
Ignacio will close out the season at Pagosa Springs next Friday.
