The Durango High School girls soccer team completed its northern sweep Saturday with a 4-1 win at Grand Junction Central.
Durango beat Montrose 2-1 on Friday.
Freshman Lauren Milliet scored two goals for the Demons, both in the first half.
Her first goal came early when she took the ball from the midfield and broke to her left. She crossed a shot to the opposite upper corner for a 1-0 lead.
Durango’s next goal came in the ninth minute when she chipped the ball over the Central keeper’s head.
Brooke Milliet, a senior, scored for DHS in the 19th minute, assisted by Amanda McAliney.
Sarah Bates scored Durango’s final goal in the 29th minute when she converted a rebound.
“After we got our fourth goal, we kind of relaxed,” Durango head coach Aaron Eldridge said.
Central managed one second-half goal after the Demons started to juggle their lineup.
“I think we were sharp early on,” Eldridge said. “All weekend we stayed pretty organized (on defense).”
He credited the solid play of the back line of defense, including the play of Meghan O’Brien, Amanda Urban and Amanda Jones.
“We had two great games this weekend,” Eldridge said.
9-4-1 overall, 7-2-0 in the Southwestern League.
DHS (9-4-1, 7-2-0 SWL) will return home for its annual Senior Day match at 5 p.m. Thursday against Montezuma-Cortez at the Riverview Sports Complex.
