Tonya Marie Moon died April, 27, 2012, at her home in Bayfield after a long battle with lymph node cancer. She was 48.
“She fought it for well over a year,” said her husband, George Moon. “Then it came back with full force.”
Mrs. Moon was born to Gary and Patricia Beebe on July 29, 1963, in Colorado Springs.
She graduated from Sanford-Fritch High School in Fritch, Texas, in 1981.
Mrs. Moon moved to Bayfield, where she was raising several children from a previous marriage. She worked for several local businesses, including Comstock Creations, Rocky Mountain Chocolate and Basin Co-op. She met her future husband at Basin Coop.
Tonya and George Moon married in July, 2007. She loved being with her family and adored children.
Mrs. Moon enjoyed gardening, crocheting and reading. She was fond of animals.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Moon is survived by her daughter Serena Kinney of Ignacio; son, Christopher Cyphers, of Bayfield; father, George Beebe, of Bayfield and stepmother, Peggy Beebe; mother, Pat Liles and step-father, Earl Liles, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas; brothers Robert Beebe of Bayfield, Kyle Beebe of Bayfield, and Steven Liles of Amarillo, Texas; sisters Debbie Candelaria of Bayfield, Pattie Ann Walker of Phoenix, and Mindy Hobgood of Las Vegas; and a grandson.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Ignacio Community Church, 400 Burns Ave.
Pastor Randall Haynes will officiate. Burial will be at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
