BHS seniors capitalize on their day

Herald staff Report

The Bayfield High School girls soccer team capped its regular season with a 10-0 victory over Center on Thursday.

“All six of our seniors scored on Senior Day,” BHS head coach Jen Zelinski said. “We moved some people around, and we tried to get some other scoring opportunities.”

Eight different Wolverines scored in the victory.

Keenan Moreta scored first.

Then, Lindsey Reinmuth scored off an assist from Sanna Penton.

Effie Nistler added an unassisted goal.

Haley Fleming of the Wolverines scored after a taking pass from Charlene Hammit.

Goalkeeper Jaylie Ross, moved to the field, also scored. She was assisted by Grace Harvey.

Jordyn Harrison, Breetta Moe and Taylor Harrison also scored for Bayfield. And Fleming added a second goal for the Wolverines (14-0-1, 11-0-1 Mountain League).

Zelinski said the Wolverines capitalized on the Senior Day energy.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm,” Zelinski said.

The Wolverines now await their playoff assignment in Class 3A. The playoff pairings are expected Sunday afternoon.
