Health presentation to take place Tuesday
The Durango/La Plata Senior Center will host a free presentation by Thrive: A Creating Wellness Center during the AARP meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the center, 2424 Main Ave.

Fire district election to be held Tuesday
The Durango Fire Protection District election will take place Tuesday for the board of directors.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 142 Sheppard Drive.
Jumper Horse show to take place Saturday
A Hunter Jumper Horse Show will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Classes will include cross-rail courses for beginners, as well as hunter and jumper classes for more advanced riders.

Class on autoimmunity to be held Tuesday
A free class on autoimmunity will be offered by herbalist Marija Helt at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zuke’s, 2257 Main Ave.
Autoimmunity is when the immune system attacks one’s own tissues and is a factor in many disorders including Celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, alopecia, various thyroid diseases and possibly atherosclerosis.
Participants will discuss autoimmunity and the role of diet and herbs in reducing inflammation and providing support.

Durango to spray parks Monday, Tuesday
The city of Durango has contracted with Scott’s Pro-Lawn for spring turf fertilization and broad-leaf weed abatement at these parks:
Monday at Memorial and Rio Vista Triangle.
Tuesday at Third Avenue Parkway, Carnegie and the Mason Center.
The fertilizer used will be Pro-Lawn Liquid and the weed control will be Vessel Broad-Leaf.
