Former Durango resident Dorothy E. Noble died Sunday, May 6, 2012, in Fort Morgan. She was 98.
Mrs. Noble was born to Armour and Freda (Hight) Gearhart on Nov. 28, 1913, in Bayfield.
On Feb. 27, 1937, she married Clifton Noble in Cortez.
Mr. and Mrs. Noble lived throughout Colorado and then moved to Oregon. They returned to Colorado in 1955, retiring in Fort Morgan in 1973.
Mrs. Noble performed bookkeeping and clerical work for several years, and she also provided child care and foster care before her retirement.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan, where she was involved with numerous church activities. Mrs. Noble was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Home Demonstration Club in both Oregon and Fort Morgan.
She enjoyed doing needlework, sewing, crafts and woodworking. Most recently, she enjoyed making cards.
Mrs. Noble was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Noble.
She is survived by her daughters, Kaloma Huntley of Log Lane, Pat Thompson of Fort Morgan and Sherry Reid of Bowling Green, Ky.; son, Larry Noble of Orting, Wash.; sister, Ernestine Brewer of Durango; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. Burial will take place afterward in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
