Bayfield resident Sophia Meyer died Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Bayfield. She was 93.
Mrs. Meyer was born to Bronislaw and Helen Kleczkowski on June 30, 1918, in Jersey City, N.J. She grew up in Jersey City.
In April 1947, she married Gerald Fred Meyer in New Jersey.
In 1955, they purchased their first home in Waldwick, N.J., moving into it in 1956. Mrs. Meyer was dedicated to taking care of her family.
She was a devout Catholic who belonged to St. Luke’s and Nativity parishes in New Jersey. She attended St. Bartholomew and St. Columba Catholic churches after moving to Bayfield in 2010 to live with her granddaughter, Chastity Vasquez.
Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Fred Meyer; and daughter Kathleen Hansen.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gollis, of Glendale, Ariz.; brother Ray Kleczkowski of The Villages, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation will occur. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1830 East Second Ave.
