Cultural Center announces events

The Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St. in Cortez, will host these events:

Native American dances will be held at 7 p.m. beginning Friday and will run Monday to Saturday through Labor Day weekend.

After-dance cultural programs, where participants will learn about Native American cultures, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Tuesday through Labor Day weekend in the center’s art gallery.

Deadline extended for roundtable volunteers

The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners seeks an interested person to serve as its appointed representative on the Southwestern Basin Roundtable.

There are nine basin roundtables in Colorado, each of which facilitates local discussion about water issues and encourages locally driven, collaborative solutions for interstate water issues and collaborates with other roundtables to find solutions to interbasin and interstate water issues.

The length of term is five years, and meetings are held quarterly, alternating between Durango and Cortez. Related education and experience with local and state water concerns are preferred. All positions are voluntary.

Durango Natural Foods will hold free program

“Creatively Engaged” with Minna Jain and Cy Rauworth will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Durango Natural Foods, 575 East Eighth Ave.

Participants will explore how being creatively engaged with today’s world provides an avenue toward integrating one’s passion with the needs of the world.

Ignacio library to hold workshop for writers

The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio, will present a workshop for writers with local author Tanaya Winder at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Memorial Day service will be held in Allison

A Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery, located on County Road 329.

Services will include singing and visiting. Participants will honor veterans and loved ones. Everyone is invited.

Road Runner Transit will not run Monday

The Road Runner Transit will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Regular service will resume Tuesday.
