Ian Chamberlain of Sunnyside Farms demonstrates the use of hand tools to till in the new garden at Sunnyside Elementary School. About 150 students, including this fifth-grade class, learned about preparing soil, controlling weeds, drip-tape irrigation, planting seeds and water conservation. The garden will be planted with pumpkins, which should be ready for harvest in time for the school’s Halloween Carnival fundraiser this fall.
