Vacation Bible School coming next week

The Marvel United Methodist Church and the Mountain View Community church will host Vacation Bible School from Monday to Friday at the Mountain View Community Church, 377 County Road 122 in Kline.

The program “Operation Overboard” will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants should bring a sack lunch. An offering collection will be given to Manna Soup Kitchen. Registration forms will be available each morning at the church.

Har Shalom announces events

Congregation Har Shalom, 2537 County Road 203, will hold these events:

“Blessing of the Animals in the Park” will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jenkins Ranch Park. Participants may bring any pets or animals to the blessing. Participants whose last names begin with A to K should bring a salad; L to S an entree; and T to Z a dessert. A grill will be available for use. For more information, visit item_id=69300.

A “Shabbat Torah Service” will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 9 in the synagogue of Har Shalom.

“Judaism 360” with Rabbi Eliot Baskin will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 10. A Sunday brunch will be followed by the teaching of “Gender Roles in Judaism.”

Bob Fitts to lead community worship

A Community Worship Night with Bob Fitts will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday at Pine Valley Church, 1328 County Road 501.

Bob and Kathy Fitts, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, will join the church for worship and ministry. In addition, Fitts will lead a Community Worship Night.

Fitts is an ordained minister with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian ministry. He has served with Youth With A Mission at its teaching campus, The University of the Nations in Hawaii, and in 1990 pioneered the School of Worship, which is now conducted in many countries around the world.

Celebrate Recovery to host barbecue

Celebrate Recovery at First United Methodist Church of Durango, 2917 Aspen Drive, will host a family barbecue from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program, focuses on all addictions and issues. The barbecue main dish will be provided, and participants are asked to bring a salad, side dish or dessert.
