Durango resident Marion Louise Patterson died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in Durango. She was 94.
Mrs. Patterson was born to Ransom and Marie Michael on Dec. 17, 1917, in Indio, Calif. She grew up and attended schools in Los Angeles and graduated from Huntington Park (Calif.) High School.
She married Floyd Patterson in 1936 in Yuma, Ariz. They moved back to Los Angeles. Mr. Patterson owned a roofing company, and Mrs. Patterson was a full-time mother.
She moved to Durango in February 2011.
“She was a marvelous cook, enjoyed traveling and had great pride in her family in all that they accomplished,” her family said.
She was a member of the Lynwood Full Gospel Assembly.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Floyd Patterson, in 2008; and grandson David William Patterson.
She is survived by her sons, former Durango School District 9-R Board of Education President Floyd Patterson Jr. of Durango and Michael Patterson of Phoenix; daughter, Judy Marzelli of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. today, June 2, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel, 1261 East Third Ave. The Revs. Michael Patterson and Daniel Martin will officiate. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery.
