A Durango Fire & Rescue Authority paramedic examines Misti Bigham of Utah, after her Honda collided with a deer on U.S. Highway 160 near County Road 105, about 20 miles west of Durango. “The deer came right up out of the ditch – there was no time to brake, and there was nothing I could do” said Nathan Bingham, who was driving. His wife, Misti, was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Their two children, ages 4 and 2, were in child-safety seats in the backseat, and they were not injured. The Bighams were with a caravan of nine family members in four vehicles headed to Utah after a vacation in Durango.
