Stillwater to offer kids’ music camp
The Stillwater Foundation and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango will present a World Beat Music Camp for kids ages 5 to 11 July 23 to 27. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UUFD, 419 San Juan Drive.
The camp will include an introduction to drumming technique, movement and voice activities, rhythm and team-building games and more.
Each afternoon will feature live performances from local groups playing a variety of world genres including Salsa, West African, Caribbean and Afro-Cuban.
The week will culminate with a world music performance by the kids at 2 p.m. July 27 for parents and friends.
Healthy snacks and lunches will be provided.
The cost is $125 with a 20 percent discount for UUFD members, plus three parent volunteer hours. The registration deadline is June 24, and the camp is limited to the first 20 participants.

Independent authors to talk social media
Durango Indie Authors will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Pine River Valley Bank. “An Introduction to Building A Writer’s Social Media Platform” will be presented by Pam Young. Guests are welcome.

Women’s anthology compiled by women
Stories of Women is a new collaborative of local women compiling an anthology of stories by women, for women.
The collaborative includes Milly Lacey, Allison James, Carla Marie Toth, Sally Zabriskie, Eva Montane and Felicia Hubbell. The group is committed to honoring voices of women to inspire connection through the sharing of their stories.

Open house to be hosted by noted photographer
Photographer Claude Steelman will host an open house for La Plata Open Space Conservancy from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Wildshots Gallery, 734 Main Ave. Anyone who becomes a new member of the conservancy at the event will be entered in a drawing for a framed print of Steelman’s photograph “American Basin.”
