Barbershop chorus to host open house

The Durango Narrow Gauge Barbershop chorus will host an open house for men who would like to learn more about male a cappella singing at 7 p.m. today in the Fellowship Hall of Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road, across from Chapman Hill.

The mission of the Barbershoppers is to rehearse and perform music in the four-part a cappella style. Experience with choral singing in school, college, or church choirs is desirable, but not a requirement for barbershop singing.

Director Amy Barrett, a professional music teacher, will explain and demonstrate how to sing better and harmonize with other male singers.
