Seniors Outdoors! announces these upcoming hikes and climbs:

A difficult hike/climb to the summit of T-7 (13,359 feet) will meet at 7 a.m. Sunday. Expect Class 2 terrain. RSVP to John Bregar, 385-1814 or jdbregar@optimum.net.

A difficult, 11-mile hike on the Cave Basin Trail to Table Mountain will meet at 7 a.m. Monday. RSVP to Charlie Berglund, 247-9747 or chasberglund@msn.com.

A difficult, off-trail hike on the McCarty-South Fork Animas Ridge will meet at 7 a.m. Tuesday. RSVP to Dan Honig at dhonig@animas.net.

A three-day trip to climb four fourteeners in one day – mounts Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln and Bross – will depart Tuesday and car camp at the Kite Lake Trailhead near Alma, climb Wednesday and return Thursday. RSVP to Clark Lagow, 259-9337 or clagow@rmi.net.

The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday for a moderate hike on the Edgemont Highlands Canyon Trail. Dogs on leash only. RSVP nonmembers only to leaders: Kristine Johnson and Jay Culver at 946-9560.

Barrel races to be held Saturday in Cortez

The Colorado 08 District of the National Barrel Horse Association will hold races Saturday at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds in Cortez.

Open to anyone, it will include competition in Open, Youth and Senior divisions.

Entry fee is $40 in the open division and $30 in the others. Practice time-only runs at $4 will start at 11 a.m. The Open race will start at 12:30 p.m., and a pole bending jackpot will be held afterward. Entry fee for pole bending is $10.

Dolores River cleanup to be held Saturday

Lower Dolores Boating Advocates will join forces with the local chapter of Trout Unlimited for a river cleanup Saturday on the Dolores River. Volunteers who would like to help out can join them at 4 p.m. at Joe Rowell Park in Dolores.

Volunteers should come prepared with drinking water, work gloves and sunscreen. After beautifying the river, the group will head over to Dolores River Brewery for dinner, refreshments and, after dark, several short films highlighting conservation and recreation on the river.
