Susan Matteson painted this view of the Weber fire near Mancos on June 23. The Dolores artist is represented at the Goodnight Trail Gallery in downtown Mancos and the fire interrupted last weekend’s Mancos Open Studios Tour, leaving Matteson time to immortalize the early stages of the fire. “It’s a scary kind of beauty,” Matteson said of the scene. She’ll donate the proceeds from sales of the paintings to the Mancos Fire Department.
