Dolores Rose Christy

Durango resident Dolores Rose Christy died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Durango. She was three weeks shy of her 90th birthday.

Mrs. Christy was born to Rafael and Enzel Bagozzi on July 28, 1922, in Detroit. She graduated from high school in Detroit and completed a two-year business degree.

During World War II, Mrs. Christy worked in the Supply Department for the War Department, where she met her future husband, Earl Joseph Christy. The couple married in 1950 in Allen Park, Mich.

“Her passion in life was caring for her family,” her family said. “Without fail, she put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking amazing Italian meals for sharing with family and friends. She was a confidante and advisor to her children and grandchildren.”

Mrs. Christy was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Earl J. Christy; and sons Bradley E. Christy and Earl J. Christy Jr.

She is survived by her children Colleen Lundberg of Durango, Cathleen Ruff of Broomfield, Robert Christy of Elizabeth and Cheryl Christy Flynn of Grosse Ile, Mich.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1830 East Second Ave. The Rev. James Koenigsfeld will be the celebrant. A small gathering will be held afterward at the Lundberg home.
