Day camp for children 8 to 12 to be offered

San Juan Mountains Association and San Juan Public Lands will offer a day camp for children ages 8 to 12 from Monday to July 12.

The camp will take place at Farmer Cabin along the Cascade Creek in the San Juan National Forest. Topics will include water ecology, local history, orienteering, geology, mountain lion olympics and more.

Transportation from Durango will be provided. Most classes will led by certified interpretive guide and outdoor educator MK Thompson.

The Wednesday Wanderers will make a moderate hike along the Lower Hermosa Creek at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Nonmembers must RSVP to Tricia Bayless at 375-2618.
