Seniors Outdoors! will offer these activities:
Hikes in the Ouray area and the Cimarrons will take place Tuesday and Wednesday. A challenging 14-mile hike on the Heisshorn Loop will depart at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in Ouray. Coxcomb Pass will be added to the route. A hard 8- to 10-mile hike from Blue Lakes Pass to Governor Basin with an option to Virginia Pass will begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Ouray. A moderate hike from Porphyry Basin to Columbine Lake will meet at 7 a.m. Wednesday. To RSVP, call Betsy Petersen at 259-5417 or email email@example.com.
The Wednesday Wanderers will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday for an easy hike to Jacobís Cliff/Dalla Park. Dogs on leashes will be allowed. Nonmembers must RSVP to Dell Manners at 385-0533 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hard backpacking hikes/climbs will take place from Thursday to July 22 in Horn Fork Basin near Buena Vista. Thursday will be backpacking into the basin; July 20 will be a climb of Mount Harvard; July 21 will be a climb of Mount Columbia; and July 22 will be packing out and returning to Durango. Self-guided tour available at DMR
The San Juan Mountains Association and the San Juan National Forest has created a free brochure of a self-guided nature tour at Durango Mountain Resort.
The tour follows the Brush Rake Loop at the top of Chairlift No. 4. There are signs along the trail where hikers can learn about nature.
