Bayfield waste site to close for mulching
The La Plata County yard waste collection site, located at the Bayfield Convenience Center at 4496 County Road 223, will be closed from Monday through Aug. 4 so the accumulated yard waste can be mulched.
Beginning Aug. 6, this mulch will be available to residents free of charge. No loading will be provided.
The county’s yard waste program provides residents a free option for the disposal of dry, brown yard waste. Only yard wastes such as tree trimmings, slash and tree trunks up to 8 inches in diameter are accepted at no charge.
Grass clippings and other green wastes cannot be accepted, but can be disposed at the center for $9 per cubic yard.
A recycling drop-off station also is available at the center, where people can recycle green, brown and clear glass, newspaper, aluminum, tin cans and car batteries free of charge.
For more information, call 382-6200.
