Robert Whitson, chief financial officer of Ballantine Communication Inc., the parent company for The Durango Herald, is attending the 2012 London Olympics. The Herald will publish the notes he will occasionally send about his experiences.
Landed in London at 7 a.m. local time, and we breezed through security, I think because it was so early in the morning.
Wheels down to the hotel, a 20-minute cab ride from the airport, took just an hour and a half. No visible signs of heavy security.
The only slightly stressful time would have been at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.
Our connection was tight, but we made it with time to spare.
