Former Durango resident Charlotte Aber died Friday, July 20, 2012, in Nevada. She was 89.
Mrs. Aber was born March 21, 1923, in New Jersey.
In the 1940s, she married Joseph Aber in New Jersey. The couple moved to Durango in the late 1950s or early 1960s with their four sons Joe, Terry, Robert and James. They later had a daughter, Cindy, in Durango.
Mrs. Aber worked at a Levine’s Department Store and worked in the kitchen at Riverview Elementary School while in Durango.
Mr. Aber died in 1986. In 1997, Mrs. Aber moved to Reno, Nev., to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.
She lived a very full life with wonderful children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her family said.
“Charlotte was a wonderful mother, grandmother and best friend, she will be greatly missed,” they said.
Mrs. Aber was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Aber; sons Terry Aber and James Aber; and great-grandson Corey Herring.
She is survived by her children Bob Aber of Durango, Joe Aber of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Cindy Aber of Fallon, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
